A year after moving to the French capital, in early 1986, I have taken contact to all the major fashion magazines in Paris.
Getting an appointment was already very difficult, to get a job even more.
But on February 10, 1986, I went to see the Directeur Artistique Paul Wagner of French Vogue at the Place du Palais-Bourbon.
Two months later, on May 20, they called me back:
Fashion production for Vogue in Monaco!
From May 27 to 29, 1986
I was in a complete frenzy. I had to organize so much within a few days.
The editorial brief read:
Monte-Carlo by Night!
The next day, we flew to the Cote d’Azur.
Over two long nights, we photographed several outfits.
The locations were the Monte-Carlo Beach Club and the square in front of, next to, and behind the Casino de Monte-Carlo.
Our model LEEANN LAVER wore typical 80s clothes: broad shoulders, glittering gowns.
Only CLAUDE MONTANA’s evening suit would still be wearable today.
We changed in a suite at the venerable Hôtel Hermitage.
During the day, we went to the artist MAX CARTIER’s studio in Nice. Three days of absolute stress and tension. But what an experience!
