I’ve taken very few nude photographs in my life.
And those few were only during my photography training at the State College for Photography in Munich.
In the graphic design department, we were supposed to photograph geometric shapes in black and white, and of course, I couldn’t think of anything better than the soft curves of a woman. Perhaps as a young man, you don’t have anything else on your mind anyway; in any case, I asked my muse at the time to undress for me. The pictures „Black & White Nudes 4 – 6“ emerged from this shoot, and they still hang in my room today.
I took another series with the young dancer Barbara I met at the Jessica Iwanson Dance Company at Gärtnerplatz in Munich. We had started together in a modern dance class. While I had to quit shortly afterwards due to lack of time, she had a meteoric career as a dancer and was hired by the legendary Pina Bausch in Wuppertal a few years later.
I created the pictures „Black & White Nudes 1 – 3“ with her. I lost track of her when I left for Paris.
25 years later, I saw her again by chance with the Pina Bausch Dance Theatre at a performance in Berlin.
